5Smith apple worm  Apr 14, 2010

I have given this toy to two five month old babies and it is their favorite toy!!!

1Does NOT teach Cause & Effect!  Oct 11, 2009

We have a great many of the Manhattan Toy Company toys, as well as Lamaze, Haba, PlanToys, etc. In general, I love the Manhattan Toys, but the Giggle Smith Apple really makes me mad! Why? Yes, it's super cute, and the baby giggle you hear when you press the leaf is quite endearing. However, notice the two worms coming out of the apple? Well, when you pull on the head of the yellow worm, the blue tail comes in, and when you pull on the blue worm, the yellow worm tail come in! Why, why, WHY would an "educational" toy company design a toy this way? It does not teach Cause & Effect, a very important early concept for babies. Of course if the worm heads & tails were matched up, I'd give this toy 4 to 5 stars, but as is, I would rather give it "0." I have put the Manhattan Toy Giggle Smith Apple away for now, and plan to disassemble it and fix the worms when I have the time.
